3. Would the Chicago Bears be interested in Tyron Smith?

Tyron Smith is a long-time Dallas Cowboys great, but his time with the team may be coming to an end. He is 33 years old, and after he signed a massive eight-year extension, he now has just one year left on his deal. The Cowboys could save $10M, they could move on from Smith and they could get a draft pick in the process.

For the Chicago Bears, they could trade for Smith, and get a future Hall of Famer for one year and just $8M. Smith has spent his career at left tackle, but last season he played strictly right tackle. So, there would not be a big debate about who switches sides or anything.

It is a temporary fix, but a pretty good option if there is one.

Of course, there is a drawback. Smith has been banged up a lot recently, and that is why the Cowboys would move on. He started just four games last season. He started 11 the year prior, but then two in 2020. Beyond that, while he has played 13 games or more most years, he has not played a full 16 since 2015.

This is a temporary fix, and it may not even last in the short term. Still, if the Chicago Bears can trade a day three pick, while knowing that Smith is bandaid while still looking at right tackle in the draft, it is not the worst option.

It buys time for the rookie, and guys like Braxton Jones and a rookie right takcle would love to work with Tyron Smith every day in training camp. What will the cost be for the Cowboys to trade him?
