When Jayden Daniels went off on Monday Night Football and beat the Cincinnati Bengals on the road. you knew that the next week would be tough for Chicago Bears fans. The talk all week turned into why the team messed up and should have drafted Daniels because he is hot and Williams has started slow.
The defense you are going to hear is that Daniels is in a better spot with a better play caller, and offensive line. Daniels’ play has turned the play-calling and offensive line into more reliable options. The team has Andrew Wylie, a cast-off from Kansas City at right tackle, and they are rotating a rookie in at left tackle. This is not some dream situation to drop into.
The reality with rookie quarterbacks is that if you do not start hot, there is still a chance for you, but if you do start hot, you probably have what it takes to succeed for a long time. Daniels seems to have checked that box, and that is what is frustrating. The reality is that Williams does not have to do it every week, and he is afforded the right to start slow, but whatever situation he is in, he has to start flashing because all of the legitimate quarterbacks find ways to make it happen in these types of situations.
Caleb Williams has a golden opportunity for a breakout performance.
The Bears play the Los Angeles Rams this week. The Rams featured a secondary that has been taken advantage of by opposing teams. The Rams have allowed a 100-yard receiver every week, with Jameson Williams, Marvin Harrison Jr., and Jauan Jennings torching them, so it is not like they just struggle against the elites.
The game against the Rams represent the perfect time for Williams to silence some of the silly excuses that have stemmed from Daniels' performance this past Monday with the Commanders.
