One change that the Chicago Bears need to make on offense in Week 4

One takeaway through the Chicago Bears' first three games this season is that they may have whiffed on the signing of D'Andre Swift. He has been one of the worst running backs in the NFL, especially for all of the work that he has been getting.

Neither Swift nor Khalil Herbert, for that matter, has the size or power that would cause them to be a capable runner between the tackles. They are both the type of backs that can see space and hit it with speed. The issue for the Bears is that they are not creating holes in the run game. They need a back who can go and get it.

The Chicago Bears should lean on Roschon Johnson in the run game

Roschon Johnson is much slower and less dynamic than both, but he is physically harder to tackle, and his running style allows him to pound the football between the tackles.

This was evident by his 8 rushes for 30 yards on Sunday. Swift does have 12 carries for 50 yards when running between the tackles, but the issue is that he has 25 carries for 18 yards outside of the tackles. He is bouncing everything outside and losing yards because he is not following his blocks.

For Johnson, it is as simple as following the block and staying in between the tackles. This power element is completely lacking right now. Swift's signing has backfired, and Herbert doesn't appear to be a favorite of offensive coordinator Shane Waldron.

Roschon Johnson may not be a long-term answer, but he is clearly a short-term answer. Those are the types of immediate fixes that the Bears should be looking to make as they attempt to get their offense back on track.
