2. Could the Chicago Bears start Terell Smith in the slot?

The next option the team has is to keep Tyrique Stevenson on the outside but bring in rookie Terell Smith. The pros to this are that Stevenson does not have to move much.

He can stay in his role, and it will probably bring out the best of him. More than that, as we noted, it could just lead to the team having Johnson follow Evans and Stevenson follow Godwin. If Godwin stays outside and Trey Palmer plays the slot, the team wants to have Terell Smith in the slot. Smith has not played in the slot before, but it does not mean he cannot do it. The Bears have to give him a chance in practice to see if he is worth trusting.

The cons are that Smith has no experience in the slot at all. He has limited experience at Minnesota in general and is living on his last year being a breakout. This is one heck of an adjustment for him. The Bears can try to play matchups, but at some point, they are asking Smith and Stevenson to be good in the slot and outside, and they are both rookies. It is starting to ask too much. Even Smith could have issues with Palmer in the slot considering his experience.
