3 positions with a starting job on the line at Chicago Bears training camp
The Chicago Bears did a good job solidifying most positions this offseason. There are questions about how players will perform, but there are not as many questions about who will be in each spot on the roster. So, what are the few positions where the week one starter may not be locked in yet?
3. Who will the Chicago Bears leading rusher be?
This one may be because the Chicago Bears are not putting much stock into it. They seem to be invested in the running back by committee approach, so the group is going to split regardless. Still, the split is between three rushers, and we have no idea who will get the first touch and we have no clue who will be the leading rusher this year, even if all three backs stay healthy.
Khalil Herbert and D'onta Foreman have been working on their hands, but Roschon Johnson has been the best blocker of the group. Still, at this point, it would seem like Johnson may be a candidate to finish with more carries but not start with the first few of the season.
Foreman and Herbert can make cases either way for who will get the first carry, and it is a tough bet to make when deciding which running back will end up starting more games. Herbert has the speed; Foreman has the power. Herbert is younger and has been on the team longer, but Foreman has been the more consistent runner between the tackles, and he gets what is there. Both may be a short-term placeholder for Johnson. This will be fun to watch in the coming weeks.
