The Chicago Bears are in an interesting spot with an extra preseason game than most due to the Hall of Fame game. The team will have more snaps to fill, and while those snaps will not go to trusted starters that fans are craving to see, they will be going to depth players who may be pushing to make the roster.

Tyson Bagent will get plenty of work for the Chicago Bears this offseason

Getting these players extra experience has immense value as every team will have some sort of injury issues during the season. One player who may benefit a lot this summer is Tyson Bagent

Bagent is not going to compete to start, and you could argue that he is more likely to have Brett Rypien push him in a battle between the second and third quarterbacks. However, both Bagent and Rypien are going to see their fair share of work over the next four weeks.

This is tremendously valuable for Bagent. If you recall, Bagent was the number four quarterback at this time last year, and he proved himself during the preseason. Bagent was able to get a couple of starts during the regular season due to the Justin Fields injury.

It became clear that his destiny is likely a high-quality backup, but that is a valued role on the roster, and Bagent could still show growth in that area. Beyond that, he now has a new offensive coordinator.

Williams will get his share of snaps during the preseason, but the goal is to make sure he gets in and out of the preseason without any serious injuries. This will mean extended looks for Bagent and possibly looks against starting defensive units, and players.

Bagent has to take this time to learn the offense and improve where he was from last year. This should be an exciting development for fans. They not only get to watch the growth, but they now know that he may be relied upon if any injury occurs.
