The 2023 NFL Draft could give Ryan Poles many paths to success

There is also this possibility that the Chicago Bears on Draft Day need an offensive tackle and pass rusher. If they can find a trade partner, they could package the 53rd, 61st, and possibly the 64th pick to move up into the 20 to 25 pick range. Given this trade-up possibility here are two possible scenarios. One is that Tyree Wilson somehow gets past the Seahawks and is available with the ninth pick. The other is Paris Johnson as expected is available with the ninth pick.

It is important to note that Tyree Wilson is a player the Bears staff has shown interest in. If he is available at nine then the Bears could move up into the 20 to 25 range and possibly draft Broderick Jones to play left or right tackle as he has experience with both positions. However, it is likely Broderick Jones gets drafted before getting to the 20 to 25 pick range.

Given that the Bears will not really be contenders in 2023, it seems more prudent to keep their second-round draft picks versus a trade-up. This enables them to add more quality players to their roster so that in the long run they have a genuinely very good roster.
