Building the best offensive line for the Chicago Bears in 2023

This is what I would do to build the best possible offensive line in 2023 for Justin Fields. Number one is to draft in the first round Paris Johnson or Broderick Jones to play left tackle. I also would not cut Cody Whitehair as many want to do. He provides a hidden value to the Bears. Whitehair played hurt a lot in 2022 which is why I believe he had his worst season as a pro. The hidden value he gives the Bears is that he knows this complicated offense and has a fair amount of experience playing center.

It appears that the Bears may want to give Patrick Lucas another try as their starting center after being injured for the vast majority of 2022. Patrick was brought to Chicago from Green Bay because he knows Luke Getsy's complicated offense. If for some reason he is again hurt or his play is ineffective then Cody Whitehair can shift to center and keep stability on the offensive line.

At right guard, we have Teven Jenkins who played better than any other Bears offensive lineman in 2022. At right tackle, I would put Braxton Jones. He is a starting quality offensive lineman but I have some serious doubts he is good enough to consistently lock down Fields blindside most every play each and every game.

Drafting Steve Avila and or Jaleyn Duncan should give the Bears good depth at their oline which had many injuries in 2022. The Bears need to make every effort to provide enough depth on their oline so they can ensure Justin Fields can truly use his third season as the next big step in his development as a top NFL quarterback.

I believe this has been a quality detailed analysis of the best strategies for the Bears offseason which will start in earnest on Monday March 13th when legal tampering is allowed by the NFL. All Bear fans should be prepared to enjoy the next seven weeks that culminate in the NFL draft. It should be a fun wild time for the media and fans who follow the Bears.
