The Chicago Bears have been a frequent topic for national talk shows considering the attention that was paid to the team's decision to trade Justin Fields in favor of selecting Caleb Williams with the first overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.

By moving on from Fields, the Bears admitted that there may have been some mistakes with his development. While Williams is believed to be a better quarterback than Fields, the Bears have also made sure his arrival in the NFL is much softer than one that Fields had.

The Bears won the offseason by selecting Williams, trading for Pro Bowl wide receiver Keenan Allen, and signing Pro Bowl running back D'Andre Swift in free agency. That is why the Bears have national pundits talking, and it will only grow louder once their season of Hard Knocks debuts on HBO this August.

It could also be one of the reasons why some may consider the Bears as one of the teams facing the most pressure during the 2024 season. Bradley Locker of Pro Football Focus had this to say about the Bears being one the seven teams in the NFL facing the most pressure this season.

With stars at several positions and a fantastic all-around roster, the Bears will need to exorcise their demons in 2024 and at least vie for a wild-card berth. If underachievement continues, then uncertainty at head coach looms.

Nationally, there appears to be a sense that the Bears need to have a winning season and contend for a playoff berth for Matt Eberflus to remain as the team's head coach.

If the Bears were going to make a change at head coach, it would have been this offseason, when there were a handful of veteran coaching candidates available who had had success in the NFL. At this point, the only scenario in which Eberflus does not remain the Bears' head coach beyond this season is if the team's plan derails.
