5 prospects who will shape what Chicago Bears do in 2023 NFL draft
1. Will the Chicago Bears draft Jalen Carter?
The best top eight for the Chicago Bears may be replacing Will Levis with Jalen Carter from our scenario in the last slide. If Jalen Carter goes top eight, and Will Levis is on the board, the Chicago Bears could still trade down, and they do not have to deal with the Carter mess.
However, as we noted in the previous slide, the odds are getting high that Witherspoon, Gonzalez, Wilson, and Anderson join four quarterbacks in the top eight. If that is true then Jalen Carter is going to be there.
How wild is it that fans would have built Ryan Poles a statue if he traded down to nine, got all he got, and still got Jalen Carter just a month or two ago? New information has come out, people have a different view of Carter as a person, and now most fans would be happy to see him drop to ten.
Still, where he goes affects everything. If he goes top eight, it means Levis and a trade down are in sight. Or, it means one of Gonzalez, Witherspoon, and Wilson fell. Would the Chicago Bears rather debate a corner when the trenches are so poor, or debate Carter, the perfect scheme fit, yet a possible personality issue? This will be the debate of the next few weeks.
