Chicago Bears Roster Ranking: 5th-most important player

I continue to sing the praises of Eddie Jackson. I find that I was the only one defending Jackson and Cole Kmet prior to the 2022 season. Fans quickly jumped on the Jackson bandwagon once the season started though. He was off to a great start to the year and finished with four interceptions — the second-most of his career.

Unfortunately, Jackson suffered a foot injury that put an end to his 2022 season. He only played in 12 games, but still came away with 80 combined tackles. This is also the second-most of his career — including more than his prolific 2018 season. The hope is he will be fully healthy come the start of training camp

Eddie Jackson is not only an elite play-maker, he is the field general on defense. He is rarely out of position and also ensures others know where they are supposed to be. Without him on the field, the Chicago Bears' defense could really struggle again in 2023. I'll make mention here that Jaquan Brisker was very close to being in the fifth spot over Jackson. If I were to have a sixth player, Brisker would be that guy. However, I think Jackson's experience and mental knowhow makes him more valuable this year.
