1. Chicago Bears could draft John Michael-Schmitz from Minnesota

Joe Tippman may be the best center for the Chicago Bears because John Michael-Schmitz is the most likely to be off of the board when the Bears pick. The big reason that JMS is probably the top center in the draft class is that he is definitely the most scheme versatile. They ran a lot of different things at Minnesota, and he has the ability to come in and start no matter where he goes. It opens him up to being drafted by more teams.

Still, he plays the game that offensive line coaches want as well. John Michael-Schmitz finished blocks with tenacity and hunger. He takes pride in clearing alleyways for runners and is strong enough to hold his anchor as a pass protector.

The real issue with John Michael-Schmitz is that he is about a year older than the rest of the prospects in this draft class. By next year will those guys have improved to the point where they will be better prospects? Is this size of Tippmann and athletic upside of Wypler more enticing? We will see who is on the board, and if JMS is one of those options when the 53rd pick rolls around.
