The Chicago Bears roster improved, but do we know how much it improved? The best way to look at the team is to compare them to their division rivals since that controls their path to the playoffs. We have been ranking each position's room depth chart to see how the team stacks up.

We are looking at the edge rushers today. This will be featuring the projected top four rushers to make the team.

4. Chicago Bears: DeMarcus Walker, Rasheem Green, Dominique Robinson, Trevis Gipson

This one is, unfortunately still pretty clear. The team even added two free agents, but they were not big names, or at least not big enough names to move the needle. Walker and Green will mainly improve the run defense, and Walker brings versatility. They are hoping that being in a reduced role brings out the best in Gipson and Robinson can take a step in year two. As we stand, it is improved, but still fourth.

3. Minnesota Vikings: Danielle Hunter, Marcus Davenport, Patrick Jones, DJ Wonnum

The big question here is Danielle Hunter. He missed 2020 and dealt with an injury in 2021. He was close to being back to his old self in 2022, but now he is looking for a trade or a new contract. There are too many questions to add them higher. Beyond that, Davenport is up and down. When this duo is on, they are the best, but Hunter may be gone, and Davenport had to wait in free agency to sign a deal because he was not as desired as he thought. We have compared Dominique Robinson favorably to Wonnum as a depth rusher, so that is better than the Chicago Bears, and Patrick Jones is about on a tier with Trevis Gipson. The Vikings are definitely closer to two than four, but they have too many questions as they stand.

2. Detroit Lions: Aidan Hutchinson, James Houston, Romeo Okwara, Charles Harris

The Detroit Lions adding Aidan Hutchinson makes it hard to make any case for the Minnesota Vikings passing them right now. Even James Houston had a strong rookie season, although his role and the draft pedigree have some saying he needs to prove it a bit more. Okwara and Harris are strong depth options, and the team has more depth beyond this if we want to go deeper.

1. Green Bay Packers: Rashan Gary, Preston Smith, Lukas VanNess Kingsley Enagbare

The addition of Lukas VanNess to replace the old presence of Za'Darius Smith is significant. Rashan Gary is returning from injury but should be back to full health. When we last saw him, he was one of the best rushers in the NFL. Preston Smith has always been relied upon, and between the top three, they go as deep and as talented as any team.
