1. Mecole Hardman makes too much sense for the Chicago Bears
Another name that is easy to tie to the Chicago Bears is Mecole Hardman. Ryan Poles just graduated from college scouting director to Executive director of player personnel, so he was definitely involved in the talks the Chiefs had when they traded up for Mecole Hardman.
Not only did they trade up, but they also did so in round two, so they had high hopes for Mecole Hardman. Hardman did not have a strong run with the Chiefs, but one of the reasons they were drawn to him was that he was 20 years old at the time of the draft.
So, he did not do well, but he is still 24, which means he has not even hit his prime years by most accounts. Poles probably still loves the talent, and we know he loves the youth, and pedigree of a former second-round pick.
Lastly, we know Luke Getsy wants to use receivers in the run game. He gets them going left and right, and it freezes linebackers, which can open lanes for the running back and Justin Fields. The Bears tried to draft Velus Jones for this role, but it did not work.
The team can try Jones again, or spend up and bring in Mecole Hardman. Considering the lack of big-name free-agent wideouts for the team to choose from, the odds of them being high on Mecole Hardman are great. Beyond that, they can win the bidding war. Do not be surprised when the Bears sign Mecole Hardman for more money than you expect.
