9. Samje Perine would be the perfect complement to Khalil Herbert

The Chicago Bears seem pretty content letting David Montgomery walk in free agency. Recent franchise tags have pushed Montgomery up to one of the best on the market, and the team has expressed confidence in Herbert without saying they have even engaged in talks with Montgomery.

Somebody is going to pay up, but would Samje Perine give you the same value at a discount? That would help spend a few extra bucks on someone like Jones.

Due to the Bengals' offensive line issues the team elected to play Samaje Perine over Joe Mixon in the playoffs. Mixon still had more touches, but Perine played more snaps, mostly from pass protection and short-yardage runs.

This is exactly what the Chicago Bears need. Herbert has the big play explosion that Perine and Montgomery lack. However, these two are much better at getting one or two when needed and are also better in the passing game. The Bears do not need to pay for a do-everything guy when a combination of Perine and Herbert would be solid and cost-efficient.
