5. Chicago Bears should call Marcus Mariota

If the Chicago Bears want a competent backup who can fill in for Justin Fields, they should call Marcus Mariota. Mariota was released by the Atlanta Falcons, and things did not end well. Mariota left the team after he was benched.

He claimed it was an injury, the coaching staff says he left because he was benched, it is not great. However, Mariota has to look in the mirror and understand his days of starting are over. He can end his career now, or he can be a trusted backup who accepts the role. Perhaps on the team that told him he was the starter it is different, and now that he knows his job, it will not be an issue.

With that in mind, it would be a great fit. The Bears need a quarterback so that they can run the same offense when Justin Fields is in and out of the lineup. They cannot say the same for Trevor Siemian.

Mariota is not going to cost a lot, and the reality is that he also may be looking at Fields and thinking that at least in Chicago he could get on the field if he does get injured.
