2. Matt Eberflus hired poor coordinators for the Chicago Bears

Matt Eberflus was not solely responsible for assembling his staff, and maybe that is apart of the issue. However, Eberflus and General Manager Ryan Poles, they did a poor job, and the team will pay for it.

First, Eberflus was directly tied to Alan Williams. Eberflus cannot be blamed for the issues that happened with Williams and his personal life. However, the defense was awful with Williams and there were no signs of improving. It is pretty bad when you cannot decide if the coach was fired or left personally because both are plausible.

Then, there is Luke Getsy. For a coach that is supposed to be a CEO, he seems to leave the offense to Getsy. He let Ryan Poles influence him on the hire, and Andrew Janocko, the quarterbacks coach, has known Luke Getsy since Pitt. Getsy also signed Nathan Peterman, another Pitt quarterback; the room has three quarterbacks who never played well at Pitt to help lead Justin Fields. It sounds goofy.

Eberflus is supposed to lead the defense, and it is bad. He was supposed to hire the right person for the offense, and that went bad. What does Eberflus do well at this point that is even worth keeping him? He was an okay defensive coordinator who was in over his head as a coach.
