4. Trestan Ebner lost his lead on the Chicago Bears depth chart

One small development from the first preseason game was Trestan Ebner being lined up over Travis Homer. It was on the depth chart but played out in the game as well. Ebner was ahead of Roschon Johnson as well.

The tides were turning after Johnson looked great in the preseason. However, we were not sure if Homer would catch Ebner or not. Unfortunately, Ebner made the job easy. He got hurt in the preseason and has not practiced since.

Since the injury, Homer has gotten more work. More than that, he is locking down a spot via special teams. This is key because this is where Homer would win his roster spot anyway. While Ebner being over Homer was important, the lack of Homer on special teams in week one was notable. In week two, he was all over special teams and made his presence felt.

It looked like Homer wrapped up a job with his performance. Ebner did not get a chance to counter, but not getting through a few drives without an injury is an issue on its own. That is why his stock is down.
