3. Kendall Williamson may struggle to make the Chicago Bears practice squad

The rookie seventh-round pick from Stanford is not making any headway in the NFL. The Chicago Bears took Kendall Williamson late in the 2023 NFL draft, so the expectations were not high. However, he has not lived up to any sort of expectations so far.

It was clear in the first preseason game that both Adrian Colbert and AJ Thomas were better options than Williamson. That showed in the second game as well as both saw the field well before Williamson.

Even crazier was seeing Blake Trahan get action with Colbert ahead of Williamson. When Colbert left the field, Williamson came in to work with Trahan. This shows us exactly where Williamson stands right now.

The Chicago Bears will not keep him on their 53-man roster. Thomas earned a job, and the question is whether Colbert gets one as the fifth safety or not. The question for Williamson has shifted dot the practice squad. Will they value Trahan over him, or does the draft pick status give him a leg up? Can they keep both? Either way, this week and the final preseason game will be telling for Kendall Williamson.
