The Chicago Bears are about to shock the NFL if this blockbuster trade happens

The NFL trade deadline is not for quite some time, but that has not kept the trade rumors from flowing. ESPN analysts have looked into the situation regarding one of the better pass rushers in the league and pegged Chicago as one of four teams as potential trade suitors.

You may or may not remember, but Ryan Poles was hunting for defensive end help late this offseason. Reports are that the Bears were one of the teams heavily pushing for Matthew Judon. In fact, it came down to the Chicago Bears and the Atlanta Falcons. The Patriots chose the Falcons because it was Judon's preferred destination despite both teams offering to give up their 2025 third-round pick. Judon already made his presence known by recording six tackles and half a sack in his first game for the Falcons.

It might be a blessing in disguise that the Bears missed out on Judon, though, seeing they only had to trade a 2025 sixth-round pick to Seattle for defensive end Darrell Taylor. Taylor already made a huge impact in Week 1 with eight tackles, two sacks, and a forced fumble. Apparently, this move does not seem drastic enough since the new rumor is that the Bears could be one of four teams interested in trading for Haason Reddick.

ESPN has the Chicago Bears as a potential suitor for Haason Reddick

Haason Reddick would be a huge splash play for the Bears if he is truly available. He is in the middle of a holdout with the Jets. The Jets traded for Reddick last spring when they sent a conditional third-round pick to Philadelphia for the former Pro Bowl pass rusher. Reddick is in the last year of his three-year $45 million contract and wants a new deal. ESPN believes that the Chicago Bears could be interested in Reddick's services.

Jeremy Fowler of ESPN Trade Offer:

Jets Receive: 2025 3rd-Round Pick, 2025 6th-Round Pick
Bears Receive: Haason Reddick, 2025 5th-Round Pick

It would be somewhat crazy to think that Chicago could have Montez Sweat and Reddick on the same roster while paying both an astronomical amount of money. That said, now is the time to make moves like this since Caleb Williams is on his rookie contract.

Over the last four years, Reddick has recorded 12.5, 11, 16, and 11 sacks. He was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2022 and 2023. Adding him to the Bears' roster would be a true shock to the NFL. I am all for adding more talent to the roster, but with how well Taylor played against the Titans, is it really worth it to give up more future draft capital for Reddick? He is only 29 years old, but if he's holding out for a new contract the Bears would likely have to sign him for at least three years -- making the move a little riskier. The other concern is that he was not playing as a defensive end but as an OLB.

Here is the thing. If Darrell Taylor continues to play the way he did in Week 1, there isn't a reason to make this trade. Plus, reading that Jeremy Fowler mentions Velus Jones as a sweetener, referring to him as a playmaker is absolutely hilarious. It makes me even question his credibility.
