The Chicago Bears make a highly unexpected trade in this full 2024 NFL mock draft
1.07: Joe Alt, LT | Notre Dame
Many Chicago Bears fans are fine with Ryan Poles moving up to land one of the top three wide receivers in the 2024 NFL Draft. Those receivers include Marvin Harrison, Jr., Malik Nabers, and Rome Odunze. I think most believe that Harrison is out of reach, but most fans seem in love with the idea of Odunze being paired with Caleb Williams. I would be happy with any of the three, but when I look at my rankings, I have three players who stand out above all the rest — Williams, Harrison and Joe Alt.
When Daniel Jeremiah brought up his trade scenario that had the Bears and Giants swapping first-round picks this year and future draft picks next year, it was to move up for Joe Alt, not one of the top receivers. I wanted to see what that might look like, and although I couldn't make it work at six, I was able to make the pick swap work with the Titans at seven and in this mock draft the Bears land an elite LT prospect in Alt.
Alt is a beast of a prospect. He stands 6'9 and is athletic only weighing 321 pounds. He has great length with 34-1/4" arms too. Alt just turned 21 in February. He is a monster on the field with solid footwork and technique. His measurables and testing are elite with a 9.91 RAS score — something we know Ryan Poles heavily focuses on. What's crazy is that Alt still has areas he can improve, but he is a plug-and-play starter at left tackle, moving Braxton Jones to either swing tackle or maybe even a future guard.
