The Chicago Bears will have to add a tight end of some sort sometime in the offseason. The team has Cole Kmet, and a few unproven UDFA rookies, but they have no depth beyond that. The draft could be an option, but it always takes tight ends a few years to develop, so that may not be the best option.

Who are some of the best free agents that the Chicago Bears could add to the tight end room.

11. Should the Chicago Bears sign Foster Moreau?

If the Chicago Bears want to run more two tight end sets, the perfect second tight end option is Foster Moreau. Moreau has been just that for the Las Vegas Raiders as the number two behind Darren Waller.

He was mainly a depth player for the first two years of his career, but he played 776 snaps in 2021, and 745 snaps in 2022. Now, he is 26 years old and coming off of his rookie contract. So, he is ascending and just now is about to hit his best playing time. This is the time to sign Foster Moreau.

He is a great fit for the Chicago Bears because he is a trusted blocker. He played in-line, which allowed the Raiders to move Darren Waller into the slot. Waller was essentially a number three wideout now, so the Raiders' depth at wide receiver wasn't as bad.

The Chicago Bears could sign Moreau, and while Kmet is not a receiver like Waller is, he is progressing in that area. With Moreau, in-line Kmet could take another step as a receiver because they are asking him to block less.

Bears assistant offensive line coach Austin King happened to be the Raiders tight ends coach when Foster Moreau was there. The fit would highlight Kmet and would dampen the need for a receiver. At the right price, this Is one heck of a fit.
