10. Marcedes Lewis knows Luke Getsy well

There are two ways to look at the Chicago Bears signing Marcedes Lewis. The first is that it makes sense. Luke Getsy worked with Lewis from 2014-15 as an offensive assistant, and then they shared a building from 2016-17 and from 2019-2021. Beyond that, the Chicago Bears assistant tight ends coach Tim Zetts was an offensive assistant with the Packers. He followed Getsy here.

There are two strong connections, and one of them happens to be coaching tight ends now. So, Marcedes Lewis could be seeing that Aaron Rodgers is leaving. Just like Equanimeous St. Brown, and Lucas Patrick, Lewis may have fond memories of Getsy and want to work with him again.

If the price is right this is a no-brainer. Lewis is not a pass catcher, but he has sustained a 17-year career. That is right, 17 years. That is because the man can block with the best. It would help Kmet.

The other side is that with a 17-year NFL career comes a 39-year-old football player. The Chicago Bears are trying to younger. Sure, this is just a role player, and a number two tight end, but there could still be some more upside. Lewis could certainly bring leadership and has seen some winning seasons in his career. These are things the team will have to debate.
