7. O.J. Howard has pedigree Chicago Bears covet

This signing would feel similar to something like N'Keal Harry. The Chicago Bears have shown that they appreciate first-round pedigree. Of course, they are not paying for that pedigree, but rather just giving that type of athlete one last shot. It did not work for Harry and may go similarly for O.J. Howard, but so many saw Howard as a helpful NFL player.

It would be surprising if he fell out of the NFL after just six seasons, although he is pacing that way. He played 781 snaps in 2019 and has hardly played that many snaps in three seasons since.

He played 132, then 397 and 310 last season. He signed with the Buffalo Bills last season and was cut in the preseason. He caught on with the Texans but still could not hold down a role.

Still, this is a 28-year-old who spends 52% of his snaps blocking and has over 1,200 snaps blocking in the NFL. There is still upside and at least a thought that he could provide value at the right price. The right price would be low but could be worth exploring.
