4. Do Chicago Bears have familiarity with Maxx Williams?

When the Baltimore Ravens drafted Maxx Williams eight years ago many thought he would be doing more than this. However, he is still in the NFL for his 9th NFL season, and his play suggests he has a few more years left in him. He is not the youngest option, but at age 29 this upcoming season he will be younger than others we have listed and is not close to the end of his run.

One reason he would be a great fit with the Chicago Bears is his relationship with tight ends coach Jim Dray. Dray was the Cardinals' tight ends coach in 2020 and 2021, so he spent two seasons coaching Maxx Williams already.

Williams has 2,441 total snaps, and 1,510 blocking snaps. As a 62% blocker, he plays in-line, and once again, his role helps the Chicago Bears because it means asking less of Kmet as a blocker nad more from him as a pass catcher.

Williams has not hit his upside as a pass catcher, but his floor of a reliable blocker had him spending four seasons with the Ravens and four with the Cardinals. Both teams like him, but both wish he showed just a bit more. Still, for his role, a third stop on the Chicago Bears may be a nice fit.
