While speaking with reporters on Wednesday, Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus provided some insight into the heel injury that Keenan Allen has been dealing with since the end of the preseason. Allen was able to play in the Bears' 2024 opener but was inactive this past Sunday. Eberflus told reporters that it was a matter of pain tolerance.

The pain must be pretty severe, considering Thursday marked the fifth consecutive practice in which Allen did not participate.

Updated Chicago Bears' injury report for Week 3 suggests Keenan Allen won't play.

If we're following the precedent that was established last week when Allen was inactive following not practicing on Thursday, chances are the veteran wide receiver won't be active on Sunday when the Bears face the Indianapolis Colts. Even if Allen does practice in a limited capacity on Friday, the Bears may still hold the veteran out as they wait for him to be fully recovered. The issue is there has been no indicator of that happening anytime soon.

Teven Jenkins and Nate Davis returned to the practice field on Thursday. Eberflus indicated that there would be no offensive line changes this week, so the expectation is that Jenkins will be the starting left guard on Sunday with Davis continuing to serve as the team's starting right guard.

Thursday also marked progress for rookie offensive tackle Kiran Amegadjie. Amegadjie has been ramping up from a pre-existing injury that the Bears were aware of when they selected him in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. While not an immediate solution, Amegadjie may be an option later in the season if the Bears' current starting offensive line does not stabilize.

It seems that the Bears' defensive line rotation will be intact on Sunday, with the exception of Zacch Pickens. Pickens's lack of availability has been a disappointing start to his sophomore campaign with the Bears, and once healthy, his climb up the depth chart may only lengthen.
