Which Chicago Bears were winners in Week 11 vs. Lions?
Chicago Bears Week 11 Winner No. 3: Tyrique Stevenson
This was the type of game that Tyrique Stevenson needed to have. He had struggled a bit lately with penalties and getting picked on by opposing quarterbacks. He was able to put together a complete performance against the Detroit Lions and got his first career interception to compliment his efforts.
Last week against the Panthers, Stevenson dropped what should have been his first interception in the NFL on a very similar play to how he got it today. An errant throw from Goff sailed into the hands of the rookie who was able to hold on and get the Bears great field position to try to build on their opening drive touchdown. While the offense's inability to convert turnovers into points was a negative, Stevenson was responsible for two of the four turnovers Detroit had. That is a win itself with how much fans have been looking for more production out of Stevenson.
Stevenson also flashed his physicality in coming up and making tackles. If he gets to play his style of defense, which is physical man to man in your face type of play, he will have more outings like this one. The Bears have learned to live with his penalties if it means games like this, but he had yet to put that rewarding performance out there. Finally, the Bears were able to enjoy the fruits of how Stevenson plays cornerback, and he helped put the Bears in a position to score points on multiple occasions.
This is a performance he needs to build off of because he also did not commit a penalty, which is a breath of fresh air with Stevenson. He was able to still use his physical play but not overdo it to draw a flag. It will be important for him to keep that going because those flags have really hurt the team over the season. He has been put in a key role this season and hopefully, he will start rewarding coaches and fans for their faith in his game.
It looked like the Chicago Bears were going to beat the Detroit Lions behind their best team outing of the season, but they just could not get the job done in the clutch once again. The defense played bend don't break in the fourth quarter and paid the price for it and the offense stalled out due to conservative play-calling. What a waste of some exceptional performances all around the team.
