Who did the Chicago Bears draft in the 2023 NFL Draft?

The 2023 NFL Draft is over and the Chicago Bears finished the weekend with 10 draft picks - ironically less than the total they finished with in 2022 (11). Last season, Ryan Poles turned six picks into 11. However, it should be noted that five of those 11 picks came in the 200s. This year, Poles turned nine picks into 10 draft picks this year, two extra draft picks next year, and another extra pick in 2025. Oh, and did I mention this also includes the addition of D.J. Moore?

The Chicago Bears had an awful 2022 season, but there was plenty of promise and upside despite finishing the year with the worst record in football. The team was lucky enough to see Lovie Smith, former Chicago Bears and University of Illinois head coach, help the Houston Texans find victory in Week 18. This gifted the Bears the top pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, while the Texans fell to two.

Ryan Poles traded that top pick to the Carolina Panthers. The deal included a late second-rounder (61), a 2024 first-round pick, and a 2025 second-round pick. The biggest upside of the deal was wide receiver D.J. Moore. With the addition of Moore to the wide receiver group, the Chicago Bears have given Justin Fields plenty to work with in 2023 - a season that needs to see Fields take a jump as a passer.

That was not all though. Ryan Poles traded out of the ninth-overall pick and moved down only one spot while gaining a 2024 fourth-rounder. A couple of other trades took place (one up and one down) in the 2023 NFL Draft, but after starting the day with 10 picks, Poles finished the day with the same number of picks.
