3. The Chicago Bears are getting Matt Eberflus the help he wants

We have heard about Matt Eberflus and the 3-technique since about the day after he was hired. First, we heard about his work with linebackers, then we heard about his work with the three-technique. With the Colts it was Darius Leonard and then DeForest Buckner. A second-round pick and a big splash.

This time around the big splash was at linebacker, and this time around the second-round pick, or should I say picks were on the three-technique. The reality is that the dream of a three-tech never came about.

They were turned off enough by Jalen Carter to pass, and they flunked Larry Ogunjobi on his physical as well. If the medical or personal departments were good on either, they would have had their big splash. Because both shots turned out with them turned off, they decided to go with the path of a couple of second-rounders.

Between Gervon Dexter and Zacch Pickens the Chicago Bears now have two interior defensive linemen, and both of them can play both interior spots. Both are athletic balls of clay and with the right coaching, they could blossom. They sound like the Eberflus version of Darius Leonard, and Tremaine Edmunds is his DeForest Buckner.

With the team finally giving Eberflus the pieces he always desires, he becomes a weekend winner.
