Monday morning, a bombshell report hit the football world as Myles Garrett officially requested a trade out of Cleveland. Of course, Chicago Bears fans started jumping the gun and thinking about a potential deal for the Browns star pass rusher.
The 29-year-old is a four-time All Pro and future Hall of Fame player who is looking to win a Super Bowl. The Bears actually might make sense with the turnaround they could have coming after Ben Johnson's hiring.
Looking at what it would cost to land Garrett, we could go with what The Athletic's Dianna Russini just reported after the trade request.
One general manager told her that it would likely take a first-round pick and then some, but not likely something as wild as three firsts. So, you're looking at potentially a first rounder and a pair of thirds, and then maybe adding a player.
What could the Bears offer along those line? Let's take a look.
3 trades the Bears could use to lure Myles Garrett to Chicago
Trade Scenario 1: The Bears sacrifice this year's first rounder for Myles Garrett
This would be a difficult pill to swallow, for some, especially because it would likely cost a first-round offensive lineman this year. But, the Bears give up a top-10 pick plus a third rounder next year. That seems cheap, and there's another team out there who would likely beat it.
More Bears news:
However, this is a starting point; nothing more. If the Bears could add in another third and that gets it done, say no more. That's a slam dunk.
Trade Scenario 2: The Bears keep this year's first
This seems a bit more fair and something the Bears very well could pull off. They keep this year's first rounder, but trade next year's instead (which will hopefully be a later pick). Giving up an early second rounder this year and a third in 2026, the Bears give up a total of three early draft picks to land Garrett.
Again, there very well could be a team that outbids something like this, in which case the Bears have to get more aggressive.
Trade Scenario 3: The Bears go all-in on Myles Garrett right now
Finally, let's say it does come down to a bidding war where multiple teams are willing to offer two first-round picks. The Bears could come out swinging and offer a couple of additional picks to Cleveland to help move the needle.
If this doesn't tip the scale, completely, then maybe look for the Bears to include someone like cornerback Tyrique Stevenson who would get a fresh start with the Browns. Cleveland already might end up losing someone like Greg Newsome if they decide not to pay him, and could need cornerback help in the near future to pair with Denzel Ward.
