The Chicago Bears have been searching for edge rusher help for what seems like an eternity.
So, it is not a surprise that they went out and made a big splash in free agency to add a rusher opposite of Montez Sweat. However, Dayo Odeyingbo may not have been the name that many were expecting. He checks in at number 13 on our list.
Ranking Most Important Bears on 2025 roster: Number 13 Dayo Odeyingbo
Odeyingbo has been a solid contributor for the Indianapolis Colts after being a second-round pick in 2021. He started his career slowly with limited time as a rookie, but had five sacks in year two as he became a noted role player.
In 2023, he exploded onto the scene with eight sacks when he finally earned a starting role. Odeyingbo was not as productive in 2024, posting just three sacks. However, he saw much more work overall; his pressures were up, and his run defense improved. That is what has Chicago banking on him despite just one strong season when it comes to sack production.
He is going to be needed in this defense. Of course, Sweat will get most of the attention. However, if he can take advantage of the lack of attention, it can not only equal a big year for him, but it can start to open lanes for others.
More than that, the lack of depth is still notable here. Austin Booker is not quite what Dennis Allen looks for in defensive ends, and guys such as Dominique Robinson and Daniel Hardy are viewed as end-of-the-roster players. They need Odeyingbo to play a lot of snaps, defend the run, and improve on his pass rush.

He is not quite there, which is why he is not a top 10 player. However, his role is immensely valuable, so he sits at number 13.
