The Chicago Bears selected Colston Loveland tenth overall and Ozzy Trapilo 56th overall in the 2025 NFL Draft.
While Loveland is valued for his long-term upside, when it comes to immediate impact in 2025, Trapilo edges him out and lands at No. 15 on our list of the Bears’ most important players.
Ranking Bears’ Most Important Players in 2025: No. 15 Ozzy Trapilo
Trapilo’s development could make or break the Bears’ offensive line this year, whereas Loveland’s rookie contributions would simply be a strong addition to an already deep group of skill players.
Currently, Chicago has four starting spots on the offensive line locked down, with left tackle being the lone question mark. Braxton Jones remains the incumbent, but he’s recovering from a serious ankle injury and isn’t expected to be fully ready until later this summer. That opens the door for Trapilo — a second-round pick chosen by this coaching staff — to jump into starting snaps as early as Week 1.
Trapilo fell to the second round largely because of questions about his projection, so he is not expected to be an instant impact player. He also is a former right tackle transitioning to the left side — no small feat for a rookie. That challenge is why the potential blindside protector of the franchise quarterback doesn’t rank even higher on this list just yet.
Still, left tackle is arguably the most critical position on the line, and the Bears can’t afford it to be the weak link. The question now is whether Trapilo can seize the job and hold onto it.

He’ll get every opportunity to earn the role, but his performance in training camp will be one of the most important storylines to watch this summer.
