Ranking the 4 worst possible hires for the Chicago Bears HC search

The Chicago Bears are casting a wide net in their head coaching search with at least 11 reported interview candidates so far.

This should be viewed as a good thing for Bears fans as it shows their team is doing its due diligence. However, this has most people worried that too many options open too many doors to mess things up.

Who have the Bears interviewed so far that would have fans annoyed if it was the hire?

1. Arthur Smith

Arthur Smith was the Atlanta Falcons head coach and now he is the Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator. The Steelers offense looked better with Justin Fields than it did when Fields was with the Bears.

Still, the Steelers have started two different quarterbacks, and as they enter the postseason, they are not sure if either fits well enough in the Smith offense to make a run. When you add in that the rushing attack has not improved with Smith, who is a noted run guru, there is not enough on his resume to buy into him turning the offense around.

2. Anthony Weaver

Anthony Weaver was the Ravens' defensive line coach before becoming the Miami Dolphins' defensive coordinator this year. Weaver fits perfectly into the category of leader of men, but he has major questions as a game strategist.

3. Thomas Brown

This almost does not need to be touched on because it is so unlikely to happen. The Bears will interview Brown, and they should out of respect, and to hear his ideas after coaching the team for a few weeks. However, the Bears won one game out of his five as head coach and the whole process looked messy. He will not be the choice.

4. David Shaw

David Shaw gets another tag for the leader of men mantra. He also has ties to Jim Harbaugh, a long-time Stanford coach who is currently with the Denver Broncos. Still, Shaw and Stanford parted ways because his approach was a little too old school. While his background is offensive, there is a bit too much of a conservative and run-first approach that you do not want to pair with Caleb Williams.
