With it now being July, fans are eager to bust loose onto the grounds at Halas Hall and watch the Chicago Bears in their first training camp under head coach Ben Johnson.
It's an exciting time to be a fan, and an exciting time to be a Bear. But, even some of the recent, 2025 signings look like they won't have a shot to make it onto Johnson's final roster in his first season with Chicago.
As we approach training camp, there are some specific names to know who are going to be fiercely battling for their football lives.
A few veterans might get cut before their first season with the Bears even begins
Shaun Wade, CB
Once a promising, highly-touted cornerback prospect out of Ohio State, Shaun Wade has fallen far from grace. After three seasons with the New England Patriots as a fifth-round pick back in 2021, he spent a couple of months, last year, with the Chargers' practice squad.
Now, he tries to prolong his career in Chicago at just 26 years old, but seemingly buried by other talent at cornerback.
Miles Boykin, WR
Bears fans who are local to Chicago might know Miles Boykin well from his time at Notre Dame, not too far down the road. After being a third-round pick by the Baltimore Ravens back in 2019, he spent two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers before bouncing around practice squads in 2024.
It might be close to over for the former Irish standout.
Alex Cook, S
A Washington Husky coming out of college, safety Alex Cook was scooped up as an undrafted free agent by the New York Giants in 2023. He transitioned to being mostly a practice squad player for the Carolina Panthers over the past two years before a very short return to New York late last season.
In Chicago, he'll have a very hard time leapfrogging Jonathan Owens and Elijah Hicks.
Joshua Miles, OT
The Bears' offensive line overhaul reached far and wide, this offseason, and included signing former Arizona Cardinals 2019 seventh-round pick Joshua Miles. He's appeared in 18 career games with a few different teams, but has never started.
Swayze Bozeman, LB
If the Bears give out a training camp award for the best name, Swayze Bozeman just might land the hardware. Unfortunately, the former Kansas City Chiefs practice squad member and 2024 undrafted free agent is unlikely to stick on the final roster.
