With only 53 men who can make an NFL roster, the Chicago Bears could have some tough decisions to make. That includes potentially not having one of their draft picks on the active roster when the season begins.

The Bears made eight selections in the 2025 NFL Draft, with a heavier emphasis on offense at the beginning of the draft. Chicago's three picks in the first four picks within two rounds were offensive players.

There are high expectations for rookies like Colston Loveland, Luther Burden III, and Ozzy Trapilo. One offensive player picked late in the draft might be the odd man out on the team.

Luke Newman has the toughest road of any rookie on the team

Chicago selected Newman in the sixth round of the draft out of Michigan State as he became the second offensive lineman picked for the Bears. Newman was projected to be a late round pick as many draft experts see him as a depth player or a practice squad member in his career.

There hasn't been too much on how Newman has done since being selected by the Bears, but he will be in the running for backup jobs on the offensive line. He's most likely going to stay in his guard position.

Ryan Bates and Bill Murray would be his biggest competitors at guard, but Newman could line up as a center as well. That backup job would have Newman looking to beat out Doug Kramer.

Chicago's starting five on the offensive line is mainly easy to predict outside of the left tackle position. The biggest question that remains is who will be the five reserves on the line.

Newman still has a good shot at making the roster since he was selected by the Bears this year, but he's got stiff competition ahead of him with guys who has NFL experience. He will need to have a great training camp and preseason to earn that final 53-man roster spot.
