After Monday's practice for the Chicago Bears, it became clear they might have a big problem at running back that might need to get resolved soon.
D'Andre Swift and Brittian Brown were the only healthy running backs on the roster after a string of injuries had knocked out other guys. Key contributors like Roschon Johnson, Kyle Monangai, and Deion Hankins have made the depth at running back slim.
One back did present himself as a possible option for the Bears to pick up. NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported Monday night that the Denver Broncos waived running back Audrick Estime after one year on the team.

Estime was Denver's fifth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and primarily served as a backup. In 13 games, he rushed for 310 yards and two touchdowns with an average of 4.1 yards per carry.
How Estime and Swift would work together in the backfield
If the Bears are looking for more of a power back compared to Swift, Estime would make the perfect complimentary piece with Swift. At 227 pounds, Estime would be able to be that ground-and-pound back to Swift's speed and quickness on the outside.
Estime got caught up in a loaded backfield in Denver and was losing playing time there. That shouldn't be any indication that the 21 year old back can't be a good RB2.
Brown should be given a ton of credit too for the way he has played after coming in midway through training camp and putting up good stats in the preseason. He rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown in two games.
The Bears just need enough time to get through Johnson and Monangai's injuries before they can come back. All indications have been they should be back soon and are considered serious.

Estime would be the perfect fill in running back for the Bears if they wanted to hit the free agency market for a young, cheap playmaker.
