It isn't over... yet.

Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles gets a whole lot of flack, and rightfully so, for the most part. He's made quite a few questionable decisions during his stint in Chicago.

One of his absolute worst, though, came in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft when he selected wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. out of Tennessee. It was a move that Bears fans immediately disagreed with, all around, and never really forgave Poles for the mistake.

Jones has since been released by Chicago and has bounced around the league. Now, he's gotten yet another chance as the Seattle Seahawks opted to sign him to their practice squad. But, his stay there might not last long, based on recent history.

Velus Jones Jr. could be on his last leg in the NFL, but Bears fans will never forget

After being cut by Chicago last year, Jones signed with the Jacksonville Jagaurs practice squad. Then, in December, the Carolina Panthers signed him to their active roster.

His rookie contract was up after the 2024 campaign and then, early in 2025 free agency, he signed with the New Orleans Saints. Interestingly enough, New Orleans looked like they had plans to play him at running back.

Jones stuck around New Orleans for a while until he was recently released earlier this month, but it didn't take long for him to catch on with Seattle.

Now on his fifth team in just over a year, this could be it for Jones. He's clearly gotten the attention of teams, but not necessarily for more than just a practice squad role. As a former third-round pick, Jones will sadly be remembered as a bust.

Poles took a chance on an older rookie who didn't even have much of a route tree to begin with, and oh look, it didn't work out.

Bears fans will never forget Jones for being a bust, but to be fair and promote a tad of positivity, here, they'll also never forget him as one of the stars of HBO's Hard Knocks. This fan base will remember Jones and his ferret forever.

Jones ended his Bears career with 19 carries for 165 yards and a touchdown. He also caught just 12 passes for 135 yards and a lone receiving touchdown.
