Chicago Bears fans might be particularly interested in tuning in to the upcoming episode of "NFL Classic: After Further Review with Kyle Brandt" on Wednesday, October 1, on VICE TV.
The episode will feature Bears legend and Pro Football Hall of Famer Brian Urlacher, as well as stand-up comedian, actor, and Bears fan Sebastian Maniscalco. Urlacher and Maniscalco rewatched the 2006 Week 6 Monday Night Football game with Brandt, which saw the Bears erase a 20-point lead to stun the Arizona Cardinals 24-23. This sparked the famous rant from former Cardinals coach Dennis Green, “They are who we thought they were!” after the game.
While it's going to be a nice, relaxing evening watching one of the most memorable games in franchise history, there is one particular moment from the episode that will catch Bears fans' attention. Mainly because it's going to connect with fans so well to what's happening with the team this year.
What Maniscalco asked that will resonate too well with Bears fans
In an exclusive clip from VICE TV, Maniscalo asks a fundamental question to Brandt and Urlacher that might be sound advice for the current 2025 Bears defense to pay attention to.
"I just want to point out, swarming defense. I don't know, it looks like nine guys are on the tackle and I haven't seen that from the Bears in years. I mean, can we look at previous game tape and look at how to tackle? It's beautiful."

It's a fair question, as the Bears have not been particularly strong on defense in recent years, unlike the Urlacher years, when he was playing at a high level. Since 2022, the Bears' defense has been ranked in the top 20 once, and that was in 2023, when they were ranked 12th in total defense.
Here is how the unit has ranked in the last four years:
Year | Bears' Total Defense NFL Ranking |
---|---|
2022 | 29th |
2023 | 12th |
2024 | 27th |
2025 (Through First Four Games) | 27th |
This season has been a mix of struggles, marked by multiple player injuries, a lack of a consistent pass rush, and a ranking at the bottom of the NFL in rush defense. The bye week couldn't be coming at a better time with Grady Jarrett, T.J. Edwards, Kyler Gordon, and Austin Booker all looking to be back on the field for Week 6 against the Washington Commanders.
