Chicago Bears general manager Ryan Poles is more than earning his contract extension with how busy he has been with training camp just around the corner.

Poles was able to get second-round pick Shemar Turner signed to a four-year contract to have him with the team in training camp. Another second-round pick has been secured with the Bears: offensive tackle Ozzy Trapilo.

Chicago Tribune Bears reporter Brad Biggs first reported the news just mere hours after Turner was signed. Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer added that it was a four-year deal with the first two years guaranteed and the third year 72% guaranteed

Bears got two important rookies signed, just one more to go

Trapilo is another pivotal piece to the Bears after they selected him as the 24th pick of the second round out of Boston College. He was a first-team All-ACC selection in 2024 and a second-team All-ACC selection the previous season.

His role on the team in 2025 has yet to be defined, as he is being considered as a potential starting left tackle, with Braxton Jones recovering from injury. If Jones is not 100%, Trapilo could be the starter for Caleb Williams' blind side.

With Turner and Trapilo secure, the focus shifts to wide receiver Luther Burden III, who is now the last unsigned rookie on the team. Burden has been unable to work out during the offseason as he recovers from a soft tissue injury.

The hope is Poles can get something done with Burden so the stress of not having him at training camp can be done with. At least the Bears got two key depth players in Trapilo and Turner signed on the dotted line so they can participate in training camp next week.

Many other NFL teams worry about not having their second-round picks ready for training camp, but the Bears can almost relax, as most of the heavy lifting has been done. Now it's just getting Burden's deal done.
