There have been plenty of names that have been associated with the Chicago Bears when it comes to who the team may select with the tenth overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. The Athletic recently did a mock draft that could end up in a worst-case scenario for the Bears.
The Bears selected Shemar Stewart, who does make sense for the Bears in plenty of ways. However, it is not quite the name that Bears fans are going to be excited about. Stewart has just 4.5 sacks in four years, which makes his projection in the top ten a bit questionable.
Will the Chicago Bears select Shemart Stewart with the tenth overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft?
Still, when you look at how the board breaks, it is not the most shocking pick. Mason Graham, Ashton Jeanty, Will Campbell, Armand Membou, and Tyler Warren were all taken before the Bears were on the clock. Those are the big names that Bears fans hope to land.
The picks after Stewart were Jihad Campbell, an off-ball linebacker, and cornerback Will Johnson. The Bears need an edge rusher much more than those positions, so the question may end up coming down to Stewart or another edge rusher.
This mock has Mykel Williams as the next rusher off the board, going 15th overall. Mike Green went 17th overall, and Jalon Walker fell all the way to 19th. When it comes to the Dennis Allen defense, the body type of Stewart does fit the best.
The Bears have been a team known to bet on upside traits and athletic ability more than college production, and you can argue that this led to them finding some hits such as Gervon Dexter and Braxton Jones. Will Stewart be the next big-time athlete who looked questionable when he was selected, but will turn into an NFL starter?
