The Chicago Bears are 4-10 on the season, have lost eight straight games, and have officially been eliminated from playoff contention.
In a year with an unusual number of bad teams, the Bears are currently projected to have the ninth pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. There has been an uptick in fans suggesting that the Bears sit Caleb Williams for the final three games but that may not be the best thing for his development.
Chicago Bears fans need to see Caleb Williams finish the strong
There are only so many NFL snaps that every player can get and Williams is still pretty raw. Every snap he gets is valuable, and the hope is that he performs his best to close out the season. He needs it for his self-confidence, and for the team to see that he can string together positive play.
Williams has played well in some losing efforts, and the team plays three potential playoff teams to close out the season. Marking an opportunity for Williams to play against playoff-caliber defenses.
So, it does raise the question of whether Bears fans would trade a win and a slot or two in the draft order for a couple of games that really give you butterflies and make you feel good about Williams. Most fans probably would take Williams taking a game or two over for the win down the stretch and be just fine with it.
The positive momentum it could build in the locker room and within the player may be just as valuable as the pick itself, especially when talking about a player so valuable to the franchise. Bears fans should be hoping Williams plays well, and if wins come, so be it.
