These Bears are barely hanging on before training camp (and no one is noticing)

They are on the chopping block.

The Chicago Bears are bringing one of their more talented and deeper rosters into the 2025 season.

With that in mind, there may be a few more familiar names who end up getting released this summer than you would anticipate. Who are three Bears that we may not see on the roster come September?

Three training camp cut candidates for Bears

Tyler Scott

Tyler Scott never worked out as a fourth round draft pick. He was some draft analysts' favorite sleeper, but he hardly saw the field as a rookie. In year two, the team tried to shift him from his outside role more into the slot and he did not pick it up fast enough to earn any sort of role.

Now, the team has a new head coach who did not draft him. Quite the opposite, the Bears have added multiple receivers who should push him off the roster, including notable players like Luther Burden III, Devin Duvernay, and Myles Boykin, who serve in bigger special teams roles. You could make a strong case that Scott is not one of the six best receivers on the roster.

Ryan Bates

Ryan Poles has an obsession with Ryan Bates so it may not come to fruition but at some point, a sunk cost is a sunk cost. Bates has never lived up to what Poles thought he could do, and now the team went out of their way to ensure he does not start. Beyond that, an addition like Luke Newman in the draft may make Bates even more expendable. Bates has hardly been healthy with the Bears, and another summer with any sort of setback could cause him to be off the roster sooner rather than later.

Zacch Pickens

Zacch Pickens and Gervon Dexter did not get selected very far apart, but while anticipation is high for Dexter fans, hardly anyone remembers that Pickens is on the roster. He may not be for much longer. Chicago added Shemar Turner in the draft, and with Grady Jarrett added in free agency, along with Andrew Billings being healthy, there is no room for Pickens.

Even when Billings was out, the team leaned to Chris Williams more, and Williams is still on the roster. So, a case can be made that Pickens is the fifth interior lineman at best. That does not get you a roster spot.
