Despite the pushback from some Chicago Bears fans regarding their first two draft selections, and the team avoiding the offensive line, it can't be forgotten that the Bears took an offensive tackle with one of their three second-round selections in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Ozzy Trapilo may not be the offensive tackle that Bears fans had circled entering the draft, but for a second-round pick, Trapilo is entering Training Camp with the expectation of competing at left tackle. Trapilo was a three-year starter at right tackle with Boston College, but the Bears don't appear to be interested in moving Darnell Wright to left tackle. That leaves Trapilo on a path to potentially becoming the Bears' starting left tackle to open the season.

Braxton Jones is the Bears' incumbent starter at left tackle, but given that he may not be ready for the start of training camp, the veteran could be quickly displaced by the rookie. For that reason, Adam Jahns of The Athletic has Trapilo as the Bears' best value pick of this year's draft.

Ozzy Trapilo could be the unsung hero of the Bears' draft class

If the Bears found their starting left tackle in the second round, then there would be no argument; Trapilo would be the most valuable selection the team made in the draft.

However, I would offer Luther Burden III as the only other selection that may rival Trapilo for giving the Bears the most value. Many draft evaluators considered Burden a first-round wide receiver. The fact that Burden fell to the Bears in the second round of the draft has been widely viewed as one of the biggest steals of the draft.

Of course, the difference is that Trapilo may have the better opportunity at providing an immediate impact. As things stand, Burden will be the Bears' slot wide receiver behind DJ Moore and Rome Odunzer. Beyond that, with Cole Kmet and Colston Loveland at tight end, Burden may have a smaller sample size than Trapilo during their respective rookie seasons.
