Watching Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams on the field is like watching poetry in motion for the fans. It's a much different experience for defenders on the field facing him.
While appearing on the Speakeasy show, Washington Commanders defensive end Charles Omenihu was asked by Emmanuel Acho who the five scariest quarterbacks are to face in the NFL besides Patrick Mahomes, whom he played with. Omenihu, in no particular order, included Williams on that list.
“He can run, and he can make every throw. Every single throw. I respect the hell out of his game. After this past year? I respect his game crazy. He is throwing dots and goes on cold shoulder iceman on your a**.”
Caleb Williams named one of the scariest quarterbacks to face in the NFL
What makes Williams a pain to defend is his ability to run out of the pocket and be more accurate with his passes when scrambling than in the pocket. He has the ability to make any throw at any part of the field, no matter the distance.
Compared to last offseason, there is much more chatter about Williams's greatness and greater belief that he can become a top-tier quarterback in the league. It helps that he led an NFL record seven comebacks and game-winning drives, broke a franchise record for passing yards (3,942), led his team to an 11-6 record, won the NFC North, and won a playoff game in just his second season in the league.
That last part might be what is scarier than what Omenihu has seen on the football field so far with Williams. With just two years under his belt, Williams is only going to get better, which means 2025 was just the beginning of the NFL's nightmare for the next decade plus.

Williams has stepped up to last year's challenge and performed well. Year 3 will only be more fun to watch.
