Week 3 might provide the Bears offense exactly what they need to get in rhythm

The Bears are still searching for their first win and breakout offensive performance, and both could come on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

The most disappointing thing about the Chicago Bears through two games has been the abysmal defense, but the offense hasn’t quite met expectations yet either.

With Ben Johnson taking over this offseason and the talented Caleb Williams entering year two, with several promising weapons, the Bears were hoping to be a really productive offense. That could still end up happening, but Chicago is currently experiencing what seems to be some inevitable growing pains.

Fortunately, the Bears will have the opportunity to get right on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. While much has been made about Chicago’s defense being an opportunity for opposing offenses to feast, overlooked is the fact that Dallas’ defense hasn’t looked good through two games either. That means Chicago has a chance to find its groove on Sunday.

Bears offense could take advantage off a struggling Cowboys defense in Week 3

The Cowboys are coming off a thrilling overtime victory over the New York Giants. While it’s great for Dallas that it won the game with 40 points, it can’t be overlooked that the team also gave up 37 points. Giving up 37 points is never good, but it’s especially bad when it’s against a Giants team that couldn’t move the ball or score touchdowns a week prior.

Before New York was able to have its way with the Cowboys' defense, posting 506 yards of offense, it was the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1 running through Dallas. The defending Super Bowl champs had over 300 yards of offense while running for 5.4 yards a carry.

While the two games are a small sample size, the Cowboys don’t currently look like a defense that are making things challenging for opposing offenses. If that’s the case on Sunday, the Bears need to capitalize and get in stride during the game. If they can score a lot of points against Dallas, not only will Chicago have the chance to win the game, it’d be able to build off the performance going forward, hopefully playing much better offensive football.
