Five Questions with The Viking Age
As we put a wrap on 2011, I had the pleasure to sit down with Jon Merckle of The Viking Age to discuss this week’s game. You can check out my answers to his questions here. While the game is meaningless, there are some good questions and answers here on both sides… BGO: Leslie Frazier is long remembered in Chicago because his talent was unfulfilled as a player, but he was on the ’85 team, so people know about him around here. What is the take on him up north and will he be there when the Vikings right the ship, so [...]
Bears @ Vikings Game Preview
Well friends, we are about to put a wrap on 2011, which as a Bears fan has been a forgettable year, beginning with the loss to the Packers in the NFC Championship game. The Bears will help cure (or perhaps intensify) your New Year’s Eve hangovers with their first game in 2012 as they travel to Minnesota. Ironically enough, it was in Minnesota about 12 months ago where the Bears crowned themselves NFC North Champs for the 2010 season. This season couldn’t be more of an antithesis of the joy we all felt last year when on a frozen University [...]
Chicago Bears 2011 Yearbook
2011 was filled with ups and downs for the Chicago Bears but mostly down. They made their third trip to the postseason under Lovie Smith, ending in a loss to the Packers in the NFC Championship Game at the end of the 2010 season while the 2011 season was derailed by injuries. After a long and contentious lockout, the Bears started off the 2011 campaign with a shaky 2-3 start. The home opener versus the Falcons filled fans with high hopes before consecutive losses to the Saints and Packers brought everyone back down to Earth. Similar problems plagued Jay Cutler [...]
Two Chicago Bears accustomed to taking trips to Hawaii will not be going in 2012, at least not based on the voters. While five of their Chicago Bears teammates were selected, Julius Peppers and Devin Hester were not selected to the 2012 Pro Bowl. It’s a mild snub that neither is going this season. Both are the victims of the numbers game. It’s hard to put a number on many of the things that Julius Peppers does on the field. Even though he’s the first Bear to record double digit sacks since Mark Anderson’s 12 in 2006, he’s far [...]
Matt Forte’s season officially ended on Tuesday, so he won’t be able to join fellow first timers Charles Peanut Tillman and Corey Graham in the Pro Bowl. They’re among five Chicago Bears selected to represent the Beloved in the annual All Star exhibition. They will be joined by some regulars from the Bears roster – Brian Urlacher makes his eighth trip while fellow linebacker Lance Briggs makes his seventh appearance. Forte accounted for about 40% of the Bears offense before his season ended in Week 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs. You’d better believe that his agents will be using [...]
Chicago Bears Send Cutler and Forte to IR
The Chicago Bears officially put an end to Jay Cutler and Matt Forte’s seasons on Tuesday, sending the starting backfield mates to Injured Reserve. It marks the end of an unfulfilled season that started with high hopes that was on track to be each players’ best as a Bear. Cutler ends the season with just over 2300 yards, completing 58% of his passes including 13 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in just 10 games. He had emerged from last season’s controversial exit from the NFC Championship Game to lead the Bears to a 5 game winning streak, during which the offense [...]
Clipped from: www.suntimes.com (share this clip) The Bears and Packers game featured a season high 20 arrests and Lambeau Field on Christmas night. Nice to see those Cheeseheads were i the Christmas spirit. Green Bay police attribute the 20 arrests and 49 ejections to extra time for drinking since it was a night game and many Packer fans selling their season tickets to people that don’t normally go to games.
Chicago Bears Week 16 Report Card
Much as expected, the makeshift 2011 Chicago Bears fell 35-21 to the Green Bay Packers for the fourth time this calendar year. The Bears were relying on backups at seemingly every position on offense and the defense couldn’t keep Aaron Rodgers out of the end zone, giving up five passing touchdowns. QB Josh McCown played surprisingly well, throwing for 242 yards and a TD to go along with two costly interceptions. Third-string running back Kahlil Bell led a rejuvenated Bears running attack that racked up 199 rushing yards. Despite the bloated yardage totals, the Bears struggled to put points on [...]
