Head Coach: John Fox

Easily the most expedient and aggressive of the Bears’ coaching hires, John Fox should be able to come in and take charge away for Chicago. Unlike Trestman, Fox has had practice both winning and losing in NFL as his experience of 13 years as a head coach clearly proved to be invaluable for a team desperate for some guidance after a turmoil-filled (5-11) season.

Shortly after being hired John Fox immediately expressed his gratitude to and respect for the franchise while being introduced by general manager Ryan Pace. “This is a great great honor and privilege to be the head coach of the Chicago Bears,” Fox said. “The thing that excited me and my family was the storied franchise… To be standing here in the same role as George Halas is pretty remarkable and one I take very seriously with great responsibility moving forward.”

“We started this search knowing that there were many important qualities we were looking for energy charisma, discipline and character… John Fox is a proven winner and when he became available, honestly the game changed… He’s the perfect man to lead our charge.”- Chicago Bears General Manger Ryan Pace

Pace showed similar admiration toward the signing at the introduction ceremony, stating, “We started this search knowing that there were many important qualities we were looking for energy charisma, discipline and character… John Fox is a proven winner and when he became available, honestly the game changed… He’s the perfect man to lead our charge.”

While Fox may have had an abrupt exit from Denver, it’s easy to see why the Bears front office pounced at the opportunity when he became available. At (119-89) he’s easily the most experienced coach on the open market, and that experience has been met with immediate and explosive success. He’s taken over a (2-14) Carolina Panthers team and in just two seasons had them playing in the Super Bowl and led a Tim Tebow-quarterbacked Denver Broncos team to a playoff victory . Though he doesn’t have a marque style or persona,  John Fox was the best coach the Bears could have hired for his proven ability rebuild and retool based on the talent available to him.
