The Chicago Bears are busy signing their draft choices.  As of this writing, they have five of their six draft picks under contract.  Yesterday, they inked three of their draft picks – fourth round selection Jeremy Langford, fifth round pick Adrian Amos and sixth rounder Tayo Fabuluje.  Today, the Bears have agree to contract terms with first round draft pick Kevin White and second round selection Eddie Goldman.  Yo, Hronioss, where you at?  What’s the holdup?  Cliff Stein has a schedule to keep.

The Bears have high hopes for Kevin White to fill the void created when Brandon Marshall was shipped to the Jets for the 5th round draft pick (that turned out to be Amos).  White started 22 games over two seasons at West Virginia where he amassed 144 receptions for 1954 yards and 15 touchdowns.  White’s blazing sub-4.4 forty yard dash time at the NFL Scouting Combine cemented him as one of the top wide receiver prospects in the draft.  The Bears were fortunate to grab White with the #7 pick..  White has been signed to a 4-year deal with a 5th year option.

The Bears hope Goldman will be one of the steals of the draft, grabbing the massive Seminole defensive tackle in the second round.  In 37 career games at Florida State, Goldman piled up 62 tackles, six sacks, twelves tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.  Goldman was named a first team 2014 All-American.  The Bears will expect Goldman to anchor the nose tackle position in Vic Fangio’s 3-4 defense.  The only other notable nose tackle on the roster is Jeremiah Ratliff, one of Goldman’s idols:

"The Florida State nose tackle donned No. 90 in college to honor the Bears’ Jeremiah Ratliff, whom he tried to emulate during his 27 starts the last two seasons. He even picked the brains of former pros he met during pre-draft workouts, wondering what Ratliff was like."

I think it’s a safe bet that third round draft pick Hroniss Grasu will be in the fold well in advance of this weekend’s rookie minicamp.  Sometimes I think that Cliff Stein has some sort of wager with other contract negotiators to see who can get all of their draft picks signed.  And Stein wins every year.
