Happy Friday Bears’ fans! Before we head into the weekend, it is time for another installment of Bear Dawn, your one stop shop for all Chicago Bears news and notes from the internet.

The Bears finished up their Manadatory Minicamp on Thursday. Adam Jahns and Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times “Recap the state of state of the Bears after their three-day mandatory minicamp.”

A few notes from the Sun-Times’ video:

  • John Fox is stressing patience with new systems being put in place.
  • Bears’ offense under Adam Gase is expected to be more fast-paced.
  • Lack of talent on defense is obvious, but Vic Fangio should help point them in the right direction.
  • A lot of positive vibes surrounding the team as minicamp ended.

The Bears also made a couple of minor roster moves on Thursday. They signed two former second round picks in RB Daniel Thomas and S Sherrod Martin. To make room for the new players, the Bears released K Jeremiah Detmer, QB Pat Devlin and TE Jacob Maxwell.

Thomas and Martin will both be relative long-shots to make the roster. Thomas will battle join the competition with Jacquizz Rodgers, Jeremy Langford and Ka’Deem Carey for carries behind starter Matt Forte. He will have to significantly impress the coaching staff in training camp if he is going to make the roster.

Martin probably has a better chance of sticking with the Bears, but with Antrel Rolle, Adrian Amos, Brock Vereen and Ryan Mundy, the Bears’ have better safety depth than they did in the past. Martin has a chance to stick, but his role would probably be primarily on special teams.

Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune takes a look at second-year linebacker Christian Jones, who is “Out to make undrafted label obsolete.

Matt Eurich takes a look at the Bears’ “Most Underrated Playmaker” for Bleacher Report. He ends up choosing defensive lineman Jeremiah Ratliff, and does a nice and lengthy profile on him. Very interesting piece.

First round rookie WR Kevin White and LB Jon Bostic missed the mandatory minicamp with injuries. Fox expects them both to be healthy and ready to go for Training Camp, according to Rich Campbell of the Chicago Tribune.
