Despite how magical the 2025 season was for the Chicago Bears, the team has moved on to the 2026 season, with all the focus on improving on what they have already built.
Bears head coach Ben Johnson set the tone for what the expectations should be as the team went 11-6 last season, thanks to some great play from quarterback Caleb Williams and an NFL record seven comeback and game-winning drives being completed. Bleacher Report writer Brad Gagnon shared a single sentence describing the team's worst nightmare scenario.
"With a full offseason to review the tape, the league figures out Ben Johnson's offense and exposes Caleb Williams as the 2024 No. 1 overall pick regresses in a non-playoff campaign."Â
Bears would hate for that to happen in 2026
The expectations have changed, and now every NFL team knows what to expect from the Bears. Everyone knows how balanced their offense is with a great running back duo of D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, as well as the passing game led by Colston Loveland, Rome Odunze, and Luther Burden.
All the attention is on the offense and whether they can keep playing at a high level. That will depend on how Williams progresses, as he struggled with accuracy last year and needs to continue improving if the Bears want to stay competitive.
Even with the offense getting attention, what about the Bears' defense that struggled between their own 20-yard line and the opponent's 20-yard line? Their defense, in general, has to step up and perform better as well if they want to win more games.

Johnson is enough of an offensive genius to come up with new ways to make this offense different from last year, but if they fall short of expectations and become too predictable, there will be more questions being asked next offseason than some thought.
